(Datura stramonium) Annual in the Nightshade Family, native to the Americas. Also known as Angel’s Trumpets and Jimson Weed. Bat-like plant from 2-6′ tall. This mix features plain white trumpets on green stems, and lavender-throated trumpets on purple stems. Pollinated flowers produce spiky seed pods known as “thorn apples”. All parts of plant are toxic when ingested. Historic shamanistic use among Native Americans. We do not recommend human consumption. See Erowid, for stories about people who have dared. Drought-tolerant.
Planting suggestions: Thrives in poor, disturbed soils, but really takes off in amended garden soil. Manure or dead animals will produce especially large specimens. Direct-sow when the soil begins to warm, or start in flats for transplanting. Thin to 12-24” spacing.
Contains at least 100 seeds. Packed for 2015.
