(Grindelia stricta) Perennial in the Aster Family, native to the North American Pacific Coast. 12-36” high. Flowers exude a sticky white liquid when prime for harvest. Used for lung ailments, sore throats. Strong medicine; best to try a small amount first as some individuals experience adverse reactions. This seed wild-crafted from plants growing in brackish conditions at the mouth of the Smith River in N. California.
Planting suggestions: Ordinary garden soil is sufficient. Can tolerate saltiness. Full sun. Direct-sow, or seed in flats in Spring, around the Final Frost. Give spacing of 12-18”. Harvest individual flowers as they reach prime stickiness.
