(Plantago lanceolataPerennial in the Plantain Family native to the British Isles, now found every place the Empire went. A rosette of lance-shaped leaves sends up a flowering stalk, 12-18” tall. Used as food & medicine since prehistoric times. Externally is excellent for insect bites; just chew up a leaf and press it to the bite. Internally is for bronchitis and many other conditions. High in vitamins & minerals.

Cultivation & harvesting suggestions:
Direct seed Autumn to Spring. Thin to 12” apart, if at all. Drought-tolerant. Not fussy about soil-type; even prefers compacted soils. Will thrive on an old dirt road, for example. Let it take over your lawn. Harvest leaves as needed. Self-sows readily.
