(Silene latifolia) Perennial in the Pink Family, native to Eurasia & N. Africa. Clumping plant of narrow leaves, evergreen in mild climates, gives rise to profusion of five-petaled white flowers. To 24” tall. Large inferior ovaries mature into seedpods that begin “popping” around the Fourth of July, scattering seeds. Unusually, immature seeds are dark-colored and finish white. An all-around charming flower for any garden, attractive to bees and other pollinators. Enjoy!

Planting suggestions: Can tolerate poor soils; average garden soil sufficient. Full sun. Direct-sow around the Final Frost. Thin to 12-18” apart.
