Description
(Perilla frutescens var. crispa) Popular in the cuisines of Japan, Korea, Laos & Vietnam. Also used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Makes a nice hot tea. This seed was collected from green plants but might also yield some purple specimens.
Planting suggestions: Culture as you would Basil, starting in flats in a greenhouse or window. Can also be direct-sown when the soil has warmed and danger of frost has passed. Harvest foliage as desired. Pinch back flowers to stimulate more leaf production. Flowering tops can be used in medicinal and beverage preparations.
